Back to the Bible

Hey Everyone!!!!

I hope that all is well. Just wanted to share some thoughts. My favourite piece of Literature ever is, of course, the Holy Bible. Here you can find a range of literary works from poems to letters to stories to even quotes and sayings. So I guess that this is the one book that we should never get tired of, yet the one book that we don't read enough.

About two years ago, I embarked on a mission - reading the entire bible. Sad to say that I've stopped many times along the way. For this new year, I've decided to pick up where I left off. I was so excited to read bible stories which I learnt at Sunday School and maybe I'll share some bible stories with you ever so often.

Well, I thought that that still wasn't enough and I decided that I needed to commit some more scripture to memory. It is actually very encouraging to quote scripture when going through rough moments in life. God has a way of speaking to you through His Word in every situation. Well, my best friend and I began by learning a passage of scripture taken from Philippians chapter 4. This passage of scripture has always been an encouragement to me and I hope it is to you also.

Philippians 4:4-13

4Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! 5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

8Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

10I rejoice greatly in the Lord that at last you have renewed your concern for me. Indeed, you have been concerned, but you had no opportunity to show it. 11I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. 12I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13I can do everything through him who gives me strength. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
