I spent almost the entire day trying to find one simple error. as for my art, Ive been working on a few airbrush art pieces. And above all, been spending some time with love ones and family and enjoying the...HEAT! lol. It is extremely hot at home. but I am coping with it. I know some of you guys are fighting the cold presently. Anyway, Im off to the website building. Cheers!!

Hey everyone!!
It's been a while :-D. I've finally revived from the flu and I've been up and about on my busy way again. Right now, I'm trying to do a research paper and there are a number of other things just taking up much of my time. Well for now I'm just dropping by, but I will be back soon to get back to posting. Well, we're still in Black History month and I haven't done much research about that nor have I posted much Literature. My intention, however, is not so much to go into Black History but to highlight a few of the many talented African American writers and poets out there. I hope I succeed.
Also, Valentines Day is coming up and I would love to grace you all with some love poetry and other Literature. Lastly, its the carnival season where I'm from and here carnival gives way to many skilled writers to compose calypsos. These songs are very neatly done and well composed, some humorous, others of a more serious tone. But I would like to share some with you as well.
Well, I'm off for now. Going to a camp for the weekend. Hoping to have at least on post done before I leave... Bye!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just Some Poetry
Hey everybody,
I just came across the poem that I used to like very much and just thought that I'd share it with you. I'm not sure who wrote it but I first heard it on the movie "10 Things I Hate About You." I hope you like it.

10 Things I Hate About You
I hate the way you talk to me,
And the way you cut your hair.
I hate the way you drive my car,
I hate it when you stare.
I hate your big dumb combat boots
And the way you read my mind.
I hate you so much it makes me sick,
It even makes me rhyme.
I hate the way you’re always right,
I hate it when you lie.
I hate it when you make me laugh,
Even worse when you make me cry.
I hate it when you’re not around,
And the fact that you didn’t call.
But mostly I hate the way I don’t hate you,
Not even close…
Not even a little bit…
Not even at all.

Black History Month is Here
Yesterday, February 1st, marked the beginning of Black History month in the United States and in Canada. It is during this month that we all take time to look at black history, the struggle which Blacks went through to be where they are today. It is true that the way Blacks were treated in the initial stages of history was despicable. However, there is much to learn from Black History. Black History has taught us that we are all people with rights. It has also taught us to fight for what we believe in. Most importantly it has shown us that our circumstances do not make us who we are. For we can rise above every circumstance and be who we ought to be. Like Maya Angelou, we can all rise.
Still I Rise
You may write me down in history
With your bitter, twisted lies,
You may trod me in the very dirt
But still, like dust, I'll rise.
Does my sassiness upset you?
Why are you beset with gloom?
'Cause I walk like I've got oil wells
Pumping in my living room.
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise.
Did you want to see me broken?
Bowed head and lowered eyes?
Shoulders falling down like teardrops.
Weakened by my soulful cries.
Does my haughtiness offend you?
Don't you take it awful hard
'Cause I laugh like I've got gold mines
Diggin' in my own back yard.
You may shoot me with your words,
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise.
Does my sexiness upset you?
Does it come as a surprise
That I dance like I've got diamonds
At the meeting of my thighs?
Out of the huts of history's shame
I rise
Up from a past that's rooted in pain
I rise
I'm a black ocean, leaping and wide,
Welling and swelling I bear in the tide.
Leaving behind nights of terror and fear
I rise
Into a daybreak that's wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
